In March, 1999, Pastor Brett Toole, along with his family, moved to Kearney where a core group of people was meeting that would become Crossroads Community Church. In those first few months a name was selected, a plan for reaching people was developed, and preparations for our Grand Opening in March, 2000, were set in motion. Phone calls were made, giant postcards were mailed, and invitations were extended. The word was getting out that there was a new church in town that God had strategically positioned to reach people who had previously been inactive in church. When the Grand Opening service was over, there was a keen awareness that God was on the move.
Since that day we have seen Jesus fulfilling His promise to "build His church" (Matthew 16:18). Many people who were previously unchurched now call Crossroads Church their church home. In December, 2004, we purchased 20 acres. We broke ground in the spring of 2008 and held our first service at our new location on Easter Sunday, 2009.
We believe there are still thousands of people in Kearney and the northland who are looking for a relationship with God and who are looking for a church committed to meeting the needs of 21st century people.
